New Relying on Old

I'd learned once that in order to gain a new thing we've got to let go of the old .....

Also that one should not allow circumstances to control our choices ....

And finally (at least for tonight), that its insanity (or plain stupidity?) to expect new results by following a course of action that has proven to be fruitless in the past.
